About The RoleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a Specialist – Local & Indigenous Procurement for our North American procurement organization based in Montreal, Qc. The Specialist will be in charge of developing an engaging local and indigenous procurement program within the North American procurement function. Partnership with our local and indigenous suppliers is critical to our business resilience and plays a key role in our long-term success.The objective of this key role will be to develop a strategy and program which will focus on partnering with these communities and encourage local and indigenous procurement.This role is a great opportunity for a procurement professional to develop and execute a strategy which will focus on creating value through partnering with these communities.You will be responsible for;
- Owning the development and implementation of a comprehensive local and indigenous procurement strategy and program within our North American business units;
- Building strong relationships with our internal experts as well as our key stakeholders;
- Communicating and improving cultural awareness to the North American procurement teams;
- Communicating with local and indigenous communities and ensuring that suppliers located within those communities are aware of Rio Tinto’s needs and priorities as well as business opportunities;
- Improving and adapting the procurement process in order to include local and indigenous procurement;
- Systematizing the analytical process through developing tools which will track progress across our business units;
- Undertaking value tracking and preparing monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reports to our key stakeholders;
About YouTo be successfully considered for this role, you will have
- Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or similar;
- Minimum of 8 years of procurement & supply chain experience;
- Strong project management, problem solving and customer relationship management skills;
- Strong strategic thinking;
- Ability to achieve outcomes through influencing and collaboration with others;
- Ability to communicate succinctly verbally and in written form with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Ability to navigate through ambiguous and changing environment, setting the ground for change;
- Experience in local economic development is considered an asset;
- Strong commercial acumen with proven category and contract management capabilities;
- Understanding of supply chain management processes and principles with focus on the supply chain resilience;
- Ability to develop a high level of trust and working in a matrix environment that values openness and transparency;
